FAQs for Kids Camps
What is a Circus Curious Kids Camp?
Circus Curious is circus, building, art, and engineering all combined in a collaborative project. We emphasize our relationship with the natural environment, embrace curiosity, and give kids a chance to solve problems relevant to their experience, process creatively and build the worlds they imagine.
Who is eligible to participate in Circus Curious kids camps?
Kids age 7-12. We will take children who are 6 following a conversation with a parent about readiness and the activities that can be challenging for younger kids. We have found that some 6 year olds are ready for camp and others may need another year.
What will my child be doing?
The days are rhythmic and balanced with both the freedom to explore and a rich curriculum.
While the activities planned vary based on field trips and session themes, a typical day may look like this:
• Campers arrive
• Outside play and juggling
• Group circle/ sharing stories/ improvisation games
• Circus, bushcraft skills/ crafts, outdoor games
• Picnic lunch
• Nature walk/ free play
• Art (indoor or outdoor - building, making - forts, sculpture)
• Story/ puppet-making/ role-play
• Brainstorming - working on larger project
• Closing group circle
What happens at camp when it rains?
If there is rain without lightening and thunder, we may continue with play and activities outside. If weather is dangerous in any way, we will stay in the classroom until the weather has passed. Visual art, puppet-making, improvisation, games, reading, acrobatics, aerial, storytelling are some of our indoor activities.

• Lunch
• Water bottle
• Backpack to carry their items
• Hat
• Sun screen
• Bug spray
My child has special medical, physical, or emotional needs. Can you accommodate us?
Whenever possible, Circus Curious will accommodate children that need extra support. In order to ensure a fun and safe experience for all campers, please contact us, to discuss your child’s needs. We are often able to provide for children with medical needs beyond allergies and asthma with advance notice. We do our best to create a supportive environment for children with unique learning needs. Please contact us before camp starts so that we can make a plan to best accommodate your child.
What is the refund & cancellation policy?
Registration is processed on a first-come first-served basis: to reserve space, both registration and payment must be received. Please reach out to us regarding refunds. Barring extenuating circumstances, refunds are not issued within a week of the cancelled session.
How long are your sessions?
Each session is one week long.
Do you provide lunch or snacks?
Unless we are cooking as an activity, we do not provide food. We ask that each child bring a hearty snack (in addition to lunch) as we do a lot of physical, outdoor activities.
What if my child has a food allergy?
Please let us know if your child has a food allergy, or any dietary preferences so that we can accommodate their needs.
What is your camper to staff ratio?
This changes, but typically we have 1 staff person to 6 campers.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
At the bottom of the driveway. There will be a teacher with the sign-in sheet outside (unless it’s raining) every morning from 9 - 9:15.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at the time of registration. Payment plans are available, but a deposit is required to hold a space.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer an Early Bird discount if you sign up before February 1st. We also offer a sibling discount of 5% per child.
Is it ok if my child gets picked up early, or misses one day of camp?
Please notify us ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly. Refunds are not available for missed days.
My Child is interested in becoming a CIT (counselor in training) - what are the requirements/ what should we know?
Age 12 or older.
Child has attended Circus Curious
During that time, they have been encouraging with peers, a positive force, and has been happy to participate in activities
If chosen as a CIT, camp rate is discounted: $200/week
We ask the child applying to write a paragraph about why they would like to be a counselor in training. If possible, please include the sessions in which the child is interested.
My child is not a fluent English speaker. Can you accommodate us?
We hope so! We offer camps each summer with Spanish speaking instructors, so if your child’s primary language is Spanish, these camps are a great option. Otherwise, this should be a conversation with the parents before camp starts and depends heavily on the child’s comfort level.
